Oakwood Worldwide Honored by Training Magazine for Fifth Consecutive Year

Training Also Presents Oakwood With Best Practice Award

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - February 25, 2011) - For the fifth consecutive year, Oakwood Worldwide earned distinguished recognition by Training magazine as a Top 125 company for its employee training and development programs. Oakwood also took home a Best Practice award for Hardwiring Sales Training for Business Results.

The Top 125 is the most elite list for training and development among Fortune 500 companies. Training magazine presented Oakwood's Top 125 award on February 7 at a black-tie gala held during the Training 2011 Conference & Expo at the San Diego Convention Center. Training editors also presented Oakwood with a Best Practices Award for their "Hardwiring Sales Training for Business Results" initiative. Oakwood was one of only five organizations to receive this award for innovative and successful learning and development programs and practices.

"Oakwood is extremely honored to accept this Top 125 recognition from Training magazine for a fifth year," said Oakwood Chief Human Resources Officer Bill Maxwell. "This is a direct reflection of Oakwood's commitment to our Associates and their continued success. We are dedicated to engaging and enabling Oakwood Associates with the relevant skills and tools available."

As part of the Top 125, Oakwood again joins some of the most respected companies in the world including Farmer's Insurance, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Verizon Wireless, Microsoft Corporation, McDonald's and Wells Fargo, all of which have been recognized in this and previous years for their commitment to training. Other Best Practice Award winners this year included ADP, Farmer's Insurance, FedEx and InterContinental Hotels Group.

Oakwood University features dynamic in-class and online classes for all Associates, and is continually enhancing its course catalog with new curriculum so each Associate receives the vital skills he or she needs to excel in his or her career. This dedication to training and development is part of Oakwood's commitment to provide superior customer service to both its guests and talented workforce.

"Training Top 125 companies realize how vital training is to their success and continue to invest in it, even in trying times," said Lorri Freifeld, editor-in-chief of Training magazine. "Equally important, though, they maintain a laser focus on tying training to the achievement of corporate strategic goals and making sure they have the results to prove it. Congratulations to all the companies named to the 2011 Training Top 125 and to the newest inductees to the Top 10 Hall of Fame."

The Top 125 includes ranking based on myriad benchmarking statistics such as total training budget; percentage of payroll; number of training hours per employee program; goals, evaluation, measurement, and workplace surveys; hours of training per employee annually; and detailed formal programs.

The Top 125 ranking is determined by assessing a range of qualitative and quantitative factors, including financial investment in employee development, the scope of development programs, and how closely such development efforts are linked to business goals and objectives.
