Objective Interface Announces Integration With Telelogic Rhapsody Model-Driven Development Solution

Extends Benefits of Model-Driven Development to Distributed Systems

WASHINGTON, DC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 11, 2006 -- Today at Object Management Group's (OMG's) Real-time and Embedded Systems Workshop, Objective Interface Systems, Inc. announced a technology integration and strategic partnership with the Telelogic Systems and Software Modeling Business Unit (formerly I-Logix), to provide a single integrated solution that gives developers transparent access to high-performance distributed communications architecture. The companies have integrated the market-leading Model-Driven Development solution, Rhapsody® with the ORBexpress® communications middleware, the real-time and embedded industry's most widely deployed Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) product. Rhapsody developers can now add the world's highest-performing communications middleware to their systems while retaining all the benefits of Unified Modeling Language (UML) based Model-Driven Development (MDD). Enhancing the integration between the products optimizes and automates the development workflow for applications requiring high-performance distributed communications.

"Standalone systems are virtually a thing of the past. Even the smallest embedded device is networked into a larger system. With the integration of ORBexpress and Rhapsody, developers can take a field-proven MDD approach to the design and deployment of high-performance, small-footprint distributed systems," said Joe Jacob, Senior Vice President of Objective Interface Systems. "In addition, by extending MDD to distributed systems, Rhapsody developers maintain their software at a higher abstraction level and retain the benefits of location transparency that have made distributed architectures so popular. We are delighted at the opportunity to partner with Telelogic, the world's leading provider of MDD solutions to the real-time and embedded industry."

"Our collaboration with Objective Interface offers enhanced functionality to Rhapsody users, allowing them to easily integrate with the world's fastest and smallest ORB. The benefit is faster time-to-market for Rhapsody-generated applications in distributed environments," said George LeBlanc, Vice President Product Marketing and Business Development, Telelogic Systems and Software Modeling Business Unit. "We look forward to expanding our long and productive relationship with Objective Interface, known for its thorough and rigorous product engineering."

ORBexpress now integrates into Rhapsody's workflow. Users annotate UML models maintained by Rhapsody with standard stereotypes that identify CORBA interfaces and modules, thus triggering generation of Interface Definition Language (IDL) files. These generated IDL files are translated into programming language source code by ORBexpress, and linked with the ORBexpress libraries. The result is a fully functional executable directly deployable to distributed real-time and embedded systems.
