OC Dental Academy Offering Dental Assisting Certification Classes Starting Soon: a 10-Week Hands-On Program or an Online Course

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 3, 2011) - OC Dental Academy, a quality education establishment founded in 2004, is offering a Certificate in Dental Assisting in a program formatted for busy schedules. Saturdays and online options are just two of the ways that the academy works to reach as many interested applicants as possible. The new Dental Assisting Course will be offered at the OC Dental Academy Offices, with the 10-week class starting on October 15.

Konni Forster, the founder of the OC Dental Academy, was motivated to create the 10-week course and online options for those who want to change their professional lives, whether they are in a personal time crunch or have big responsibilities and a small budget.

"Some of the students that come in have been through a lot. Some are moms or dads that have raised their kids, and they want a profession, but they don't have time to take two to four years of college courses," Forster said.

Approved for operation in 2005 by the Bureau of Private Postsecondary Vocational Education by the State of California, the school is proud to have created a curriculum that offers outstanding efforts in job placement assistance and is a stepping stone to Dental School or Hygiene School. OC Dental Academy differs from other training systems because students are taught both in a classroom and an actual operating dental office.

Because of the high level of commitment, the labor-intensive and rigorous course requires a serious commitment, regular attendance, and putting in the hours. Forster's classes give back what students give into it, as the training continuously evolves using the same methods that she enjoyed while working for now retired Dr. Gregg Cramm, DDS. In fact, the number one requirement for a successful student is the way that such intense participation is taken on: with a good attitude. Forster explains the "attitude factor":

"I got such high-quality training there on how to be an exceptional dental assistant that I wanted to pass what I have learned on... Before I started and when I was developing the curriculum, I asked all the dentists that I knew, or came in contact with, what the most important things are that I should teach in order for them to be a top notch dental assistant. One hundred percent of them said, 'attitude first.' I knew what they were talking about because that was how I was trained."

Tuition for the 10-week class is $2,500 and includes a Certificate in Dental Assisting, CPR Certificate for the Healthcare Provider (2 year), given by the American Heart Association Provider, training in all aspects of General Dental Assisting, a letter of recommendation upon request outlining your training and experience, free job placement, and more.

Tuition for the online course is $1,250. While it is not as hands-on, it teaches the essential dental assisting concepts with the first fully integrated online course for dental assisting. The course provides a variety of interactive exercises and assessment tools that challenge students to apply their knowledge, providing a dynamic course solution perfect for distant learning. Enrollment in the online course is ongoing.
