OCBC Hosts CEO of VIZIO William Wang

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 21, 2012) - Orange County Business Council (OCBC) is pleased to announce William Wang, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Irvine-based VIZIO, Inc., as the featured guest at the Chairman's Leadership Breakfast on Wednesday, June 27 at the Center Club in Costa Mesa. OCBC's Chairman's Leadership Breakfast Series features high-level speakers who share their tools for success and leadership philosophy. The series is moderated by OCBC past chairman, Thomas Phelps of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, and features six events throughout the year, with more than 100 of Orange County's top leaders in attendance.

As Founder and CEO, Wang is focused on making VIZIO the world's best consumer electronics brand by expanding into new product categories including computing, audio and accessories. Wang's leadership has gained VIZIO numerous awards, including the most recent Popular Mechanics' "Best in Show" award at CES 2012 for the Thin + Light Laptop lineup, PCWorld's "Best Laptop at CES" designation for the 14" Thin + Light, Electronic House's "Product of the Year" award for the CinemaWide Series, Gizmodo's "Best New Tablet" for the 10" M-Series, and Popular Science's "Best of What's New" award for Theater 3D.

Following a U.S. government mandate to standardize digital TV, Wang launched V, Inc. in 2002, later renaming it VIZIO, Inc., aiming to make the latest technologies in plasma and LCD more affordable. Pursuing the enormous spending power of middle class consumers, Wang formed close partnerships with retailers, component suppliers, and ODMs and was able to bring VIZIO's products to Costco's shelves by the second quarter of 2003. Within four years, VIZIO became America's #1 HDTV brand.

Before the inception of VIZIO, Wang launched his own innovative brands, such as MAG Innovision and Princeton Graphic Systems, producing many industry firsts in the field of high performance monitors. Wang has also been recognized as Orange County Business Journal's "Entrepreneur of the Year" (2010), and Chapman University's "Entrepreneur of the Year" (2011).
