Octasic Announces Availability of UMTS NodeB Software With Large Cell Size Support

Octasic's Unique Baseband Processing Hardware and Software Delivers 20 km Cell Radius

MONTREAL--(Marketwired - May 30, 2013) - Octasic Inc., a leading innovator of baseband and media processing solutions, today announced the latest release of its flexiPHY HSPA software. Version 1.05 enhances the capabilities of its UMTS offering, adding support for a cell radius of 20 kilometers. This software runs on Octasic's OCT2224W base station devices and Octasic's small cell platform products such as the OCTBTS2000 and OCTBTS4000.

Octasic's flexiPHY software offers 3GPP-compliant physical layers for GSM, UMTS, and LTE, integrated with leading RNC and Iuh stack vendor products. This eliminates the need for OEMs to develop the baseband and stack portion of their design. Octasic's comprehensive development toolset, Opus Studio, allows OEMs with unique requirements to enhance the flexiPHY software.

A larger cell size means operators can deploy fewer outdoor small cells, especially in rural areas. This capability also enables new applications for small cells, such as emergency networks, search and rescue, public safety, and many military applications.
