O.F.A.H. Conference offers “Opportunity for All”

Media invited to attend province’s largest fish and wildlife conference and Toronto Sportsmen’s Show

MEDIA RELEASE--(Marketwire - March 6, 2008) - A delegation of over 500 anglers and hunters will gather in Mississauga next week for the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters 80th Annual General Meeting and Fish and Wildlife Conference. Shane Mahoney, renowned conservation biologist, historian, and host/narrator of the documentary "Opportunity for All - The North American Model for Wildlife Conservation," will deliver the keynote address. The conference is also partnered with the Toronto Sportsmen's Show, the largest venue of its kind in Canada.

The conference, running March 13-15, includes presentations on topics of great interest and concern to the outdoors community, and features the Honourable Donna Cansfield, Minister of Natural Resources, Ontario Environmental Commissioner Gord Miller, and other experts, speaking on issues like native land claims; the provincial moose review; the economic value of fisheries; public access to Crown land; the consequences of fish and wildlife underfunding; and the new fishing regulations and management zones.

In addition to the main conference, the O.F.A.H. hosts a Get Outdoors Youth Leadership Conference for approximately 80 youth delegates that includes exciting field trips, youth council elections, and an indoor campout.
