O.F.A.H. helps ring-in new Natural Resources TIPS Hotline

Attention: Environment Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 27, 2005) - Today, the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters was on hand to help Minister David Ramsay open the Ontario Natural Resources TIPS Reporting Line, a new toll-free service that will give watchful outdoors enthusiasts direct and immediate access to an on-duty M.N.R. enforcement officer.

"The O.F.A.H. is pleased to support the new Natural Resources TIPS Reporting Line. Anglers and hunters are often the eyes and ears for our natural resources, and we have little patience for those who abuse it," said O.F.A.H. Executive Director Mike Reader during a M.N.R. press conference at the Ontario Government building in Peterborough.

Ontario Natural Resources TIPS Reporting Line is a toll-free, twenty-four hour, seven days a week phone service that may be used to report all types of natural resources violations including the removal of timber from Crown land, destruction of habitat, poaching, and the illegal sale of wildlife. The Natural Resources TIPS Reporting Line is easy to remember: 1-877-TIPS-MNR.

Mr. Reader noted that angling and hunting are important Ontario pastimes recognized under the Provincial Hunting and Fishing Heritage Legislation. The O.F.A.H. says the new TIPS Reporting Line will safeguard our natural resources, and ultimately help protect Ontario's fishing and hunting traditions.

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters is the province's largest fishing, hunting and conservation organization. With 80,000 members and 630 member clubs, the O.F.A.H. is the "Voice of Anglers and Hunters."
