The Official Opening of the Second Annual Canadian Science Policy Conference-Pierre Noreau and Nina Fedoroff

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 20, 2010) - At 6:00 pm Wednesday October 20th, the second annual Canadian Science Policy Conference (CSPC 2010) will open at the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Montreal. Dr. Pierre Noreau, President of Association francophone pour le savoir (ACFAS), will deliver the official opening speech of the conference. Then the renowned Dr. Nina V. Fedoroff, former advisory to state department and incoming president of AAAS, will deliver a keynote address on science solutions for a hotter and dryer world. Other keynote speakers include The Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology), and Marc Garneau, former astronaut and current MP for Westmount-Ville Marie, Montreal, who will discuss his transition from science to politics.

The Canadian Science Policy Conference is a multi-sector, multi-disciplinary conference and will be the most significant science policy event of the year in Canada. CSPC 2010 will bring together more than 400 high-profile scientists, executives, government officials, academics and industry and private sector leaders for an energetic exchange of ideas on the most important issues of science, innovation, policy making and society. The conference features 13 panels, including: science diplomacy, the role of international collaboration in fostering innovation, investment in science and innovation, the federal provincial and science policy nexus, and workshops in knowledge brokering, knowledge translation, and the making of a science entrepreneur. There will be 65 speakers from across the country at the conference.
