The Ontario Federation of Labour Convention convenes on Monday, November 26, 2007, listed below are the speakers, policy debates and events for Monday:

9:00 a.m. Aboriginal Opening
9:30 a.m. Convention Convenes
Welcome: John Cartwright, President, Toronto & York Region Labour Council
Greetings: David Miller, Mayor, City of Toronto

Keynote address: OFL President Wayne Samuelson

Samuelson addresses the OFL 50th Anniversary Convention to position the Federation's policies and labour's future actions in the debate about massive job losses in the manufacturing and resource sectors and open the debate for the labour movement on the recent Magna deal demanding no strike guarantees from workers as, according to Frank Stronach, "the way foward" for workers.

The policy document, 'The Fight for Jobs' will be debated in the afternoon.

Samuelson will also outline the actions, based on legal advice, that are being taken by the OFL regarding non-compliance care policies and practices in Ontario Long-Term Care Homes. In attendance for the media will be legal counsel Mary Cornish and union leaders.

Convention proceedings are open to the media. A Media Badge and Media Kit will be issued to representatives of the media upon registration. Media tables will be located beside the Convention stage. A TV platform will be located near the stage and audio feeds will be available in the Convention Hall at the media tables.

Executive officers of the OFL will be available for interviews both on and off the Convention floor upon request.
