OFL HEALTH CARE REPORT TO BE RELEASED IN ST. CATHARINES

NEWS CONFERENCE - MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2005 AT 4:00 P.M. - Howard Johnson Hotel & Conference Centre, 89 Meadowvale Drive, Local 1 Room, St. Catharines, Ontario Attention: Assignment Editor, Health/Medical Editor, Media Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 4, 2005) - Understaffed & Under Pressure is the Report complied by the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) that outlines the desperate state of health care workers who are worn out from years of resources being bled out of the whole system. Those who remain are under pressure to do so much, for so many, with so little, they're exhausted.

The Report calls on the provincial government to restore and strengthen the public health care system.

On a fact finding tour earlier in 2005 the OFL traveled the province and spoke with the people who deliver the care in our health care system: emergency services workers, homecare, hospitals, long term care, retirement homes, mental health and public health. This is their Report.

In attendance at the news conference:

Sue Hotte, President, St. Catharines & District Labour Council
Wayne Samuelson, President, Ontario Federation of Labour

With the release of the Report the OFL will campaign province-wide to pressure the McGuinty Liberal government to hire more health care workers throughout the system.
