OFL PLEDGES SOLIDARITY FOR SUDBURY STEELWORKERS IN NEGOTIATIONS

STEELWORKERS BARGAINING WITH TD CANADA TRUST FOR FIRST CONTRACT Attention: Assignment Editor, Media Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 11, 2006) - Ontario Federation of Labour president Wayne Samuelson has pledged support and solidarity with 114 members of the United Steelworkers in Sudbury, Ontario who are currently in bargaining for a first contract with TD Canada Trust.

"If no agreement is reached by midnight Sunday picket lines will go up at eight TD Canada Trust branches in Sudbury on Monday morning January 16th," Samuelson said. "I want the Steelworkers to know that the Federation of Labour will support these workers in their struggle for a first contact. These workers are fighting for pensions, wages and benefits and the Ontario Federation of Labour and its affiliated unions will stand in solidarity with these workers in Sudbury."
