OFL PRESIDENT JOINS KINGSTON & DISTRICT LABOUR COUNCIL ON LABOUR DAY

Attention: Assignment Editor, Media Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO--(Marketwire - Aug. 31, 2007) - Ontario Federation of Labour President Wayne Samuelson will join the Kingston and District Labour Council, activists and advocates at the annual Labour Day march and family picnic.

KINGSTON LABOUR DAY EVENT
Monday September 3rd, 2007
Victoria Park, Brock Street (between Brock and Albert Sts.), Kingston
9:00 a.m. Music in the Park
10:00 a.m. Parade
11:30 a.m. Picnic and Festivities

" Working people and their families have made communities like Kingston strong," said Samuelson. " People need good jobs with a future in order for communities to thrive."

" Unfortunately across Ontario right now there are communities being devastated by the closing of plants and mills. Ontario has lost 175,000 manufacturing and resource jobs and the future looks grim. When working people lose their jobs - everyone loses.

"The OFL is campaigning across the province trying to get the provincial government to even acknowledge the extent of job losses and the tens of thousands of workers and their families that are in crisis. We think good jobs are worth fighting for, why doesn't Premier McGuinty think so?"
