OFL President Sid Ryan in Thunder Bay, Oct. 4 to Support NDP Candidates

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 3, 2011) - On Tues., Oct. 4, and only days before the provincial election, OFL President Sid Ryan will join Thunder Bay-Superior North and Thunder Bay—Atikokan NDP candidates Steve Mantis and Mary Kozorys for a media conference hosted by the Thunder Bay and District Labour Council (TBDLC).

Ryan, whose provincial election stops today included Sudbury and North Bay, will be urging union members and all workers to use the power of their vote to ensure a NDP victory.

"Health care, education and the absolutely vital issues of jobs and the area's economy are at stake in this election," said Ryan who is warning that the Tory and Liberal platforms pushing more corporate tax breaks at the expense of public services and worse jobs will only impair the North's ability to sustain the difficult times ahead.

WHAT: Media Conference, hosted by the TBDLC
WHEN: 11 a.m., Tues. Oct. 4, 2011
WHERE: Lakehead Labour Centre, 929 Fort William Rd.
SPEAKERS: Sid Ryan, President, Ontario Federation of Labour
Melanie Kelso, Pres., TBDLC
Steve Mantis, NDP Thunder Bay-Superior North
Mary Kozorys, NDP Thunder Bay--Atikokan

Ryan will meet with Thunder Bay workers and labour leaders after the media conference and throughout the day.

Next stops on the OFL election tour include Hamilton and Oshawa.

The OFL is Canada's largest provincial labour federation representing 54 unions and one million Ontario workers.
