OFL President Sid Ryan in Rockland Today to Support Operation Christmas Cheer and Striking OPSEU Local 426 Workers

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 21, 2010) -

TIME: Noon

DATE: December 21

LOCATION: Church on corner of Laurier and St. Jean, Rockland

OFL President Sid Ryan will be on the picket line today with OPSEU Local 426 members on strike against Groupe Action and will distribute Operation Christmas Cheer dinners and toys to workers and their families.

The employer is demanding the right to move workers from one town to another, every year, with no compensation. It has also placed ads in the local papers for replacement workers, demonstrating a complete lack of respect for the hard-working, dedicated staff who run programs at three Maisons de la famille in Hawkesbury, Embrun, and Rockland and several satellite centres.

Within 4 short weeks, Operation Christmas Cheer has raised $76,654.78, over 150 toys and 6,775 pounds of non-perishable food items in support of 1562 members and 9 locals on strike/lock-out this year.
