OFL to Join Kitchener Rally to Make Ontario's Labour Laws Fair

KITCHENER, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 15, 2016) - Unionized workers and non-unionized workers will be standing shoulder-to-shoulder in a united campaign for "$15 and Fairness." It is part of a province-wide day of action for labour law reform that is timed to rally public opinion for fairer labour laws in advance of the first report of the Changing Workplaces Review.

In Kitchener, Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) Secretary-Treasurer Patty Coates will be joining a march of unionized and non-unionized workers that is converging at Victoria Park in downtown Kitchener.

"For over 20 years, Kitchener-Waterloo workers and our families have been losing ground because our labour laws are stuck in another era while employers in every sector are making precarious work the new normal in the Ontario workforce," said OFL Secretary-Treasurer Patty Coates. "We need to fix the law to MAKE IT FAIR for every worker. Today we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make sweeping changes to labour law to raise the minimum wage to $15, lift the standards for every worker and make it easier to join a union."

Who: OFL Secretary-Treasurer Patty Coates with unionized and non-unionized workers
When: Friday, April 15, 2016, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm
