OFL to Join Mississauga Rallies to Make Ontario's Labour Laws Fair

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 14, 2016) - Unionized workers and non-unionized workers will be standing shoulder-to-shoulder in a united campaign for "$15 and Fairness." It is part of a province-wide day of action for labour law reform that is timed to rally public opinion for fairer labour laws in advance of the first report of the Changing Workplaces Review.

In Mississauga, OFL President Chris Buckley will be joining airport workers protesting at the Pearson Airport office of the GTAA and OFL Executive Vice-President Ahmad Gaied will attend a rally at the office of Finance Minister Charles Sousa in Port Credit.

"For over 20 years, Ontario workers and our families have been losing ground because our labour laws are stuck in another era while employers in every sector are making precarious work the new normal in the Ontario workforce," said OFL President Chris Buckley. "We need to fix the law to MAKE IT FAIR for every worker. Today we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make sweeping changes to labour law to raise the minimum wage to $15, lift the standards for every worker and make it easier to join a union."
