Ohio Best in U.S. for Manufacturing Success

Lieutenant Governor and OMA Accept Award on Behalf of State

COLUMBUS, OH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 30, 2006 -- A new report ranks Ohio No. 1 in the nation for industrial competitiveness in the manufacturing industry. The report, released by eMvoy, a Chicago-based research group, found Ohio to be top among U.S. states best positioned to compete nationally and in the global manufacturing economy. Lieutenant Governor Bruce Johnson and Randy Leffler of the Ohio Manufacturers' Association accepted the award on behalf of the state.

The eMvoy findings were part of a one-year evaluation of 100,000 U.S. manufacturers. The manufacturers were rated by assessing company stability, market penetration, technology and web presence. The research group performs large-scale evaluations of U.S. manufacturers as part of the services it provides to industrial purchasing agents.

"These Ohio manufacturing companies have clearly found the formula for business success here in the state," said Ed Burghard, executive director of the Ohio Business Development Coalition, a nonprofit organization that provides marketing strategy and implementation to support Ohio's economic development efforts. "The best part is that Ohio also offers what executives and their employees need for a fulfilling personal life as well -- the cultural, recreational and educational opportunities that promote a full, balanced life."

According to the latest data from the Census Bureau, Ohio is the third largest manufacturing sector in the United States.
