OhioHealth Selects RxNT Prescription Management System

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 1, 2007 -- OhioHealth selected the RxNT prescription management system for the more than 2500 physicians with privileges at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Grant Medical Center, Doctors Hospital and Grady Memorial Hospital.

"With today's announcement, OhioHealth becomes one of the first major health systems in the country to make electronic prescribing and bi-directional pharmacy connectivity available to all of its affiliated physicians," said Kate Berry, senior vice president of business development for SureScripts. "Health systems can play a leading role in promoting the adoption of electronic prescribing among physicians due to its patient safety and practice efficiency benefits. SureScripts applauds OhioHealth's commitment to improving the quality of the prescribing process for the patients they care for in central Ohio."

"This new tool improves patient safety and convenience while increasing productivity for physicians and their staff -- we no longer have to worry about whether the pharmacist can read the physicians' handwriting," says Rebecca DiSalvo, MD, Chief Medical Information Officer for OhioHealth.

RxNT provides physicians and staff with valued information that streamlines the prescription writing process. Point-of-care functionality includes features such as patient formularies and non-formulary alternatives, patient claims medication history, and drug/allergy interactions.

"We're receiving praises from prominent OhioHealth physicians about our new wireless PDA product (that runs on Microsoft .NET technology) and we believe this feedback will have a positive effect on adoption at OhioHealth," states Randy Boldyga, President and CEO of RxNT.

Sanford Melmed, MD, a physician at Grant Medical Center, says, "I can't imagine that there will be many doctors that will not jump on [RxNT] as it greatly decreases the large hassle-factor that can be involved in prescription writing."

RxNT is certified to connect to the Pharmacy Health Information Exchange™, operated by SureScripts®, which facilitates the secure, electronic transmission of new prescriptions and refill requests between physicians and pharmacists. Today, more than 95 percent of all pharmacies in the United States are certified to connect to the Pharmacy Health Information Exchange.

Today's announcement comes on the heels of Ohio's Top 10 finish in the second annual Safe-Rx Awards. For the second year in a row, Ohio finished the year ranked # 9 among all 50 states in the nation for its rate of electronic prescribing.
