Okta Delivers Enhanced Identity & Mobility Management Solution for Google for Work; Surpasses 50 Millionth Google Apps Login

The Deepest Google Apps Integration, Support for Chromebooks and Android Devices Broadens Okta Platform, Enables Company-Wide Deployment at Lafarge Tarmac

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - May 26, 2015) -  Okta today announced new functionality for Google products to build on its ability to centrally manage and maintain a single identity profile for any user across any combination of applications and devices. This includes enhanced provisioning capabilities for Google Apps, as well as support for Android devices and the first-ever integrated Chromebook password sync, already in use by global customer, Lafarge Tarmac. Okta's increased investments empower IT to secure Google for Work, from Google Apps to Chromebooks and Android devices, so users can easily access and use the tools they need to be productive.

Okta also announced its 50 millionth login to Google Apps and revealed that more than 65 percent of customers with Google Apps use Okta to provision the collaboration suite across their organizations. It is one of the top provisioning-enabled apps of 4,000+ in the Okta Application Network (OAN) used by 2,000+ enterprises and millions of users around the world.

"Google has made real progress in the enterprise with Google Apps and has expanded their reach with their Chromebook and Android for Work investments. Google Apps continues to be one of the most popular in the OAN," said Eric Berg, chief product officer at Okta. "With today's announcement, we've expanded our provisioning integration to Google to unlock the power of our Universal Directory technology and allow customers to integrate deeply with existing on-premises Active Directory and LDAP directories. We've also expanded our device management capability to fully embrace Chromebooks and Android devices, providing seamless and secure access to Google Apps from any Google-powered device. The combined functionality enables us to offer the most comprehensive identity and mobility management solution for enterprises that use Google for Work."

Advancements include:

Enhanced Provisioning, Leveraging Okta's Universal Directory: Okta has strengthened its provisioning integration with Google Apps and fully exposed the capability of its Universal Directory. Administrators can now automatically create, update and delete extensive user profiles with unlimited attributes in Google Apps from the same console used to manage all other apps and devices. This replaces the need to install and maintain the Google Apps Directory Sync tool and allow customers to leverage Okta to securely synchronize data with Active Directory (AD) or an LDAP directory server to Google and all of their other applications.

Stronger Enterprise Support for Android: As more companies use Android, Okta has broadened support for Android and all enterprise-related features that Google adds to the platform. Okta Mobility Management leverages the OS-level capabilities to provide a single interface from which IT can manage users, devices, and access to web and mobile applications. Okta now gives Android users a consistent experience on any device, while providing IT end-to-end control. Customers using Okta to combine identity, strong authentication and device management can onboard employees faster, streamline IT workflows and enable employees to work securely from anywhere.

Industry's First-Ever Integrated Chromebook Password Sync
Chromebook users can now log in to their personal computers with their Okta account and access business applications offline. In doing so, Okta empowers companies to enable secure mobile workforces whether they are online or off.

Powering Large-Scale Google Apps, Chromebook Rollout at Lafarge Tarmac

Lafarge Tarmac, the UK's leading sustainable building materials and construction solutions company, looked to Okta to support its expanding use of Google products, including rolling out Chromebooks to 6,000 employees worldwide, as well as other applications designed to improve operations.

Lafarge Tarmac was one of Okta's first customers to use Universal Directory and enhanced Google Apps provisioning capabilities to further extend the Okta Google Apps connector to supplement more profile attribute mappings. Additionally, Okta and Lafarge Tarmac jointly specified and developed the single sign-on user experience required for employees to seamlessly log in to Chromebooks using corporate AD credentials and SAML federation standards.

"Okta played a key role in supporting Lafarge Tarmac's move to Google Chromebooks. By working with Okta, we were able to utilize all the available Google Chrome SAML features and APIs to give our users a better login experience," said Jonathan Winn, enterprise architect at Lafarge Tarmac. "Okta is the perfect complement to Google, empowering us to worry less about managing accounts and passwords on our Chromebooks, and focus instead on creating productive and secure workflows for the thousands of employees using the devices for work."
