Oktoberfest 2007 Ready to Roll Out the Barrels

KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 24, 2007) - Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest (www.oktoberfest.ca) is ready to roll out the barrels for this year's festival taking place October 5th-13th.

The "Spirit of Gemuetlichkeit" will be felt with the tapping of the first keg at Opening Ceremonies on Friday, October 5th at Kitchener's Civic Square at 11:30 a.m. EST with honoured guests and dignitaries. The tapping will mark the beginning of the 39th annual event, North America's Largest Bavarian Festival.

The Region of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada is preparing for over 700,000 Festival-goers during the nine-day international event. The area's German-Canadian Clubs - "festhallen" - are preparing oompah music, apple strudel, sausage, schnitzel, and homemade cabbage rolls for the many visitors in their traditional Bavarian tracht.

As the famous Concordia Club puts up its massive tent, busy volunteers are building and repairing floats for Canada's largest and nationally televised Thanksgiving Day Parade, preparing new merchandise for the Oktoberfest retail store, and getting ready to greet guests from around the world.

Some of the many highlights to enjoy for all ages include helicopter rides, Oktoberfest idol, Dog-toberfest, Rocktoberfest, the Heritage Tourism Steam Train rides and a free family pancake breakfast.

Oktoberfest Media Tour visits are scheduled for Oct 1st - 4th throughout Southwestern Ontario. To have the Oktoberfest crew visit your media outlet, please contact Oktoberfest PR Chair Colleen Fitzpatrick at 519-590-9422.
