Oktoberfest in September; L.A. County Fair Celebrates Culture and Community

POMONA, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 13, 2012) - More than just carnival rides, fried foods and barnyard animals, the 2012 L.A. County Fair is a proud community partner, honoring local neighborhoods with its Community Days, as well as hosting weekly culture festivals, including the Fair's first ever Oktoberfest, and annual MARIACHI USA Fiesta.

Throughout the fair, local residents can pay tribute to their city with specially assigned Community Days and reduced Fair admission! Featuring a festive community parade, high school marching band competitions, Adult and Junior Community Hero Presentations and other special events, Community Days let guests show off their hometown pride. Upcoming Community Days include: Chino, Upland, La Verne, Claremont, Chino Hills, Covina, Montclair, Fontana, Walnut, Azusa, Rancho Cucamonga and San Dimas.

Oktoberfest in September? The L.A. County Fair is bringing the beer, brats and everything Bavarian to Fairplex one month early for a sneak preview of the larger Oktoberfest Fairplex will host in October. Enjoy dancing and music all day Friday, Sept. 14 through Sunday, Sept. 16.

The last weekend of the Fair, Sept. 28-30, celebrate the sights and sounds of Asia with the Asian Festival. More than 50 booths featuring gifts, fashion and cuisine will line Festival Plaza with entertainment throughout the day.

Celebrating Latin culture, Plaza de las Americas is a cultural marketplace that lights up daily with authentic food booths, dancing and live entertainment. A tradition since 1952, guests can experience the energy and spice of Latin America. Loving the Latin? The MARIACHI USA Fiesta, an upbeat, fast paced Mariachi experience, will take over the grandstand Sunday, Sept. 16 featuring Mariachi Estrella de Jalisco and Mariachi Corazon, topped off with a fireworks finale celebrating Mexican Independence Day.

Fun for the whole family, the L.A. County Fair runs through Sept. 30, 2012 and is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
