Jarome Iginla supports ‘Give Kids a Chance to Play’ program to help kids participate in local sports and encourage Canadians to lead active lives

Attention: Assignment Editor, City Editor, Food/Beverage Editor, News Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO, NEWS RELEASE--(CCNMatthews - April 24, 2007) - Old Dutch is once again "chipping in" to support KidSport(TM), the national organization that provides community-based assistance to remove barriers for kids to participate in organized sports. The donation marks the fourth year the company has donated to KidSport.

Since 2003, Old Dutch has donated $125,000 each year to KidSport through its annual 'Give Kids a Chance to Play' promotion. This year, the company is leveraging the success of the program, as well as its expansion into eastern Canada, to double its donation to $250,000, bringing its total commitment to KidSport to $625,000.

The 2007 Restaurante 'Give Kids a Chance to Play' program will be executed through an Old Dutch Restaurante Premium Tortilla Chips in-store and point-of-sale campaign featuring Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla across Canada.

"As an athlete, I know the benefits of sport can transcend into every area of a child's future," said Iginla, who has been a supporter of KidSport for the past five seasons and has made a donation to the organization for every goal he scores. "Teamwork, discipline, effort and positive learning experiences can help children become exceptional people. This opportunity to help kids play sports is an invaluable investment in their lives."

Consumers can also get in on the action by entering to win a daily Jarome Iginla Sport Kit, each valued at $700 including an autographed Easton® Synergy™ hockey stick, a limited edition Iginla poster, an iPod nano and sport sensor kit, and a gift card for sports apparel. Instant Redeem Coupon stickers can be found in unmarked bags of Old Dutch Restaurante Premium Tortilla Chips. The coupon stickers contain an alphanumeric code that winners are instructed to enter on the Old Dutch website at www.olddutchfoods.ca. The promotion is running until May 26.

"KidSport has helped more than 40,000 kids in 10 provinces and territories since it was founded in 1993," said Scott Kelemen, National Director of Marketing for Old Dutch Foods. "The Old Dutch donation will help pay for sports registration fees and offset the cost of sports equipment for disadvantaged children who would otherwise be sidelined."

"Once again Old Dutch is providing a tremendous opportunity for KidSport to continue to work to remove barriers for thousands of children so they can enjoy a sport of their choice," said Pete Quevillon, Director of KidSport Canada. "It's critical that children learn from an early age that regular physical activity will help them get healthy and stay healthy."

For more than 50 years, Old Dutch has been a leader in community support, from thousands of product donations for minor and professional sports, social programs, fundraisers, and retail programs that facilitate donations to non-profit organizations like KidSport.

Old Dutch is renowned in the snack food industry for never having used hydrogenated oils for its tortilla or potato chip products, and the company was the first snack food company in Canada to commit to zero trans-fat across whole product lines.
