Ole, Ole! Sporting Index to Offer Hundreds of Markets on Every 2011 Copa America Match

Hosts Argentina favourites ahead of Brazil in Sporting Index's Copa America outright index

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - July 1, 2011) - England football fans may be mourning the absence of a World Cup or a European Championship this summer, but they still have plenty of betting opportunities thanks to the start of the 2011 Copa America.

Leading spread betting firm Sporting Index will be offering hundreds of markets, both pre-match and in-play, on every single game – from the opening group contest, the clash between hosts Argentina and Bolivia early morning on Saturday 2nd July, to the final on 24th July.

The firm's traders have already made their outright tournament spread markets available on each of the 12 teams and make Argentina favourites, at 31-34, ahead of rivals Brazil, at 23-26. The points system works by awarding 50 points to the tournament victor, 25 points to the runners-up and 10 points for teams which are defeated at the semi-final stage. Punters can also place a spread bet on the outcome of the three groups.

A host of exciting markets will be available shortly before each individual match. Popular markets include total goals, the number of corners in a match and the bookings index. Punters can challenge Sporting Index's prediction that there will be between 3.5 and 3.7 goals in the opening match, 9.5-10 corners and a bookings index make-up of 48-52 points (10pts per yellow card and 25pts per red), by buying (betting higher) or selling (betting lower).

Further markets are available on individual players, including the ever-popular player goal minutes markets. Argentina and Barcelona star Lionel Messi is quoted with a 54-58 spread against Bolivia (if he scores in the 2nd minute and the 64th minute, the market will make-up 66). A host of other special markets will also be on offer such as Argentina leading minutes v Bolivia (51-54).

"There's nowhere in the world where football means more to the people than in South America, so by offering so many markets on the Copa America, we're hoping to transport a little bit of that passion to our clients in the UK," comments Sporting Index spokesman Wayne Lincoln. "We reckon Argentina are the team to beat because of their home advantage and the brilliance of some of their individuals like Messi, Aguero and Higuain."
