Olympus Announces Two New Cameras -- Now Available at B&H Photo Video

Photography News: Olympus Releases a New Point-and-Shoot, and a New "Tough" Camera

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - March 31, 2014) - B&H Photo is proud to announce the official release of two new cameras from Olympus, the Stylus SH-1, and the Stylus TOUGH TG-3. The new additions to their Stylus line of cameras are sure to please.

Olympus TOUGH TG-3

The Olympus Tough TG-3 is a rugged camera, with one of the fastest 4x zoom lens in its class at f/2.0, and a 35mm equivalence of 25-100mm. It has a 16MP 1/2.3" BSI CMOS sensor and a TruePic VII image processor to allow for fast performance and quality imagery, with a native ISO ranging from 100 to 6400. The camera can shoot 5 frames per second for up to 100 photos at full resolution, and 60 frames per second at its lowest resolution. For time-lapse movies, interval shooting allows you to take a photo from every one second to every 24 hours for up to 99 photos, before the camera turns the images into a movie. The TG-3 captures Full HD 1080p video at 60 fps, and for slow-motion movies, 120 fps and 240 fps capture is supported at lower resolution. A 3.0" 460k-dot LCD screen allows you to compose your frame, review your photos and videos, as well as navigate menu options. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1042475-REG/olympus_v104140bu000_stylus_tough_tg_3_digital.html

The "tough" in the TG-3 camera's name refers to its ability to shoot underwater at depths of up to 50' (15.2m), resist shock up to 7' (2.1m), and remain crushproof up to 220 lbf (99.8 kgf). Furthermore, the camera remains functional down to 14°F (-10°C), and is dustproof as well.

For close-up shooting options, there are four new macro modes on the TG-3: Microscope, Microscope Control, Focus Stacking, and Focus Bracketing. With the camera in Microscope Control mode, it will focus as close as 0.5" (1cm) with a magnification of 44.5x.

Built-in Wi-Fi allows you to use the Olympus Image Share app for instant image sharing, and even to use your smartphone or tablet as a remote control for select camera functions.

Olympus Stylus SH-1

The Olympus Stylus SH-1 is a compact digital camera with a 16MP 1/2.3" BSI CMOS sensor, and is available with black or silver bodies. The 24x optical zoom lens has a 35mm focal length equivalency of 25-600mm, with an aperture range of f/3.0 to f/20.0. The sensor, combined with the TruePic VII image processor, provides fast performance including autofocus and 11.5 fps continuous shooting. A native ISO range of 125-6400 makes low-noise, low-light photography possible, and the SH-1 is the first compact camera to have a 5-axis image stabilization system for shooting both videos and photos. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1042465-REG/olympus_v107080bu000_stylus_sh_1_digital_camera.html

The Olympus SH1 camera shoots Full HD 1080p videos at 60fps, and 120fps for slow-motion videos are supported at HD 720p. A "Photo & Movie Capture" feature allows you to capture full-resolution images while you're recording an HD video, and the SH-1 can also turn up to five hours' worth of video into a 20-second time-lapse movie.

Touchscreen shutter operation, combined with the FAST AF technology, ensures that fast-moving objects are in focus, while Intelligent Auto can recognize subjects and choose the proper settings for you. Like the TG-3, the SH-1 also allows you to take a photo from every one second to every 24 hours, for up to 99 photos before the camera turns the images into a movie.

Eleven in-camera art filters can be applied to your images to add enhanced creativity, and Photo Story lets you compose multiple images into different templates to create a narrative. Additional features include Backlight HDR, Hand-Held Starlight mode, and Panorama Mode.
