OMA Announces 2010 Awards of Excellence Recipients

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 7, 2010) - Over the past year, three million visitors to Ontario's 650 community museums experienced programs and exhibitions which told our collective story and contributed to our identity and sense of place. On Thursday, October 7 the Ontario Museum Association will recognize the best of the best as it presents the 2010 Awards of Excellence.

The 2010 Awards of Excellence recipients are:

- Dave Benson (Chatham-Kent) - Award of Excellence for Lifetime Achievement

- Allan Symons (Deep River) – Award of Excellence for Lifetime Achievement

- Ottawa Museum Network (Ottawa) – Award of Excellence for Enhancing Conservation Standards

- Grey Roots Museum and Archives (Owen Sound) – Award of Excellence for The Good People: Know Our Stories, Know Us

- Museums of Mississauga (Mississauga) – Award of Excellence for Benares DVD Project

- Adele Espina (Minden) – Award of Excellence for curating For King and Country: Soldiers of the Haliburton Highlands

The Awards of Excellence will be presented at the OMA Awards Banquet held at the Delta Chelsea Hotel, during the Annual Conference in Toronto.
