Omaha, Nebraska Launches Accela Automation as New Enterprise E-Government Solution

Web-Based Solution Streamlines Permitting, Licensing, and Inspection Management

DUBLIN, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 22, 2006 -- Accela, Inc., the leading provider of government enterprise management software solutions, announced today that the City of Omaha, Nebraska has launched Accela Automation® as the city's new integrated permitting, licensing, and inspection management system. The enterprise application developed for the planning department interfaces with functions in the fire, public works, and finance departments.

Accela Automation provides a centralized database for tracking and managing permitting and licensing activities, eliminating the disparate databases formerly maintained by the city and allowing employees to be interconnected and operate more efficiently. Staff is using the new application to automate permitting, inspections, workflow, contractor licenses, construction plan reviews, and other critical functions. The system is deployed for over 60 unique application types of permits including building, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, and other construction related permits. The city currently issues 40,000-45,000 permits annually.

"The City is excited to have Accela Automation completed and implemented for our primary office processes. This Web-based system is fully integrated, so it offers flexible solutions that are streamlining the daily functions and duties of our staff," states Susan Kelley, superintendent of the Omaha Planning Department's Permits & Inspections Division. "Once the inspector and citizen access phases are complete, we anticipate improved delivery of our permit and inspection services to the citizens of Omaha."

"We are very excited to add Omaha to our growing list of jurisdictions that have selected and successfully implemented Accela Automation as their government enterprise solution," says Robert P. Lee, Accela's president and CEO. "Omaha is an excellent example of how our enterprise software solutions can help an agency track and manage their business processes, improve efficiency, and increase productivity. We are excited about completing this first phase and look forward to continued success with the city."

The next phase of the project will involve implementing and deploying Accela Wireless™ for mobile inspection management, followed by the implementation of GIS functionality. The citizen access phase is scheduled for deployment in the fall of 2006.
