Omni-ID Responds to Increased Demand for RFID in High Temperature Applications

Company Enhances Product Portfolio With New Line of Passive RFID Tags With Market-Leading Temperature Resistance

ROCHESTER, NY--(Marketwired - Aug 4, 2015) -  Omni-ID, the world's leading provider of industrial RFID tags and visual-tagging solutions, has today launched several new high-temperature tags in response to market demand. These new tags, with an industry-leading, reliable temperature resistance up to 225°C are part of Omni-ID's line of very small, low profile, Fit tags which provide the best size-to-performance ratio in the industry.

Manufacturing, healthcare, food and the energy industry frequently utilize processes where assets, products or the containers that they travel in are exposed to elevated temperatures frequently. From the sterilization of medical equipment to exploration drilling in the energy industry, the ability to reliably, uniquely identify and track an individual asset or container while in-process is essential. RFID has become increasingly popular in these applications to not only track assets; but in regulated industries such as healthcare and energy, to maintain asset history records for compliance purposes.

"We've seen an uptick in industrial RFID applications requiring tags that can withstand high temperatures, particularly in cyclic processes," said George E. Daddis, Jr. PhD, CEO of Omni-ID. "For many industries the ability to track assets reliably, through a variety of processes, that cycle from normal or below zero temperatures, to very high temperatures and back again repeatedly, has been a challenge. Market products today either don't meet the temperature, form factor or cost requirements for use in these challenging applications. Omni-ID is introducing a new standard in high temperature tags -- performance, quality and survivability all at a price point that is highly cost effective for industry."

Omni-ID has just concluded a significant research program to establish the critical design and materials that can withstand repeated exposure to 225°C temperatures for 100's of cycles of thermal shock (-20°C to +225°C). As a result of this program, the company has added high temperature versions of its highly popular Fit 210 and Fit 400, and has added a new, even smaller form factor Fit 100 to the family of products.

"As the adoption of RFID in the Energy Industry continues to increase, we see the demand for tags that will perform under extreme high temperature conditions growing as well," said Eirik Berge, VP Business Development, Trac-ID. "Responsiveness to meet the rapidly expanding market requirements will be critical for industry adoption of RFID to continue. Omni-ID consistently utilizes its manufacturing and engineering expertise to deliver industry-leading products to the market and always set the bar a bit higher -- and this line of innovative high-temperature products is no exception."

From surgical instrument sterilization, to tracking items through manufacturing processes for quality assurance to enabling asset history records for safety in downhole drilling, thousands of these tags are currently being deployed with customers in the healthcare and tire manufacturing industries.

On August 18, 2015 the company will host an informational webinar on "Utilizing RFID in High Temperature Applications".
