BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwire - Feb 28, 2013) - MWC 2013 -- Airspan Networks Inc., a leading provider of 4G LTE-Advanced broadband wireless access networks, announced today that it has started the deployment of a 2.6 GHz TD-LTE network with Brazilian Telco ON in Sao Paulo state using its Air4G high power compact small cell.
This deployment is based on Airspan's Air4G LTE-Advanced ready product line that delivers the highest net throughputs and operational range of any TD-LTE product available today.
Air4G's class leading features include;
- LTE-Advanced Release 10 Feature Set
- Support for TD-LTE Band 38 and Band 41 at 2.6 GHz
- End User Speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s
- Seamless Mobility
- Class-leading Coverage
- Full Interoperability with third-party EPCs and UEs
"We have taken the decision to aggressively deploy the LTE-Advanced ready systems in our concession area in Brazil's Sao Paulo State because of its ability to quickly offer very high-quality Internet connectivity to a large footprint," commented Farès Nassar, CEO of ON. "We also chose Airspan because they demonstrated the ability to quickly integrate with our existing LTE RAN and Core supplier and delivered LTE at an attractive coverage/performance ratio. We have so far been impressed by Airspan's deployment agility and responsiveness".
The first phase of the deployment will be completed by March 2013 and then immediately enter commercial service. We expect the Air4G LTE RAN solution to be fully homologated for LTE operation in Brazil by end March. The Air4G LTE-A deployment will then be expanded to other regions of Sao Paulo state. "Consistent with ON's strategy of offering the most advanced solutions to its customers, we are working with Airspan to adapt its LTE-A technologies to our markets," said Mr. Nassar.
Amit Ancikovsky, President of Products and Sales, added, "This is another excellent LTE win for Airspan. This is our first 4G LTE-A deployment, and joins our rapidly growing footprint of LTE rollouts and yet again we have demonstrated our ability to provide an alternative to the traditional Tier 1 Macro-cell infrastructure vendors. Our high performance compact base stations allow carriers like ON to deliver the full potential of LTE, without any compromises, which is the blueprint for success in the LTE Access business."
Airspan solutions address the needs of carriers, operators and industrial applications across the globe. Airspan products include indoor and outdoor Pico cells, and outdoor, compact Micro and Macro base stations, a wide variety of user devices, and advanced core network products, providing 4G LTE connectivity solutions operating in bands from 400 MHz up to 6.4 GHz.
