On the Path Productions -- Identifying a Public Health Crisis

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - December 17, 2008) - On the Path Productions LLC, a San Francisco health media company, has joined a national campaign to raise public awareness about autism. In partnership with Easter Seals, two of this week's programs will focus on the challenges faced by families with autistic children.

"Autism is a growing public health crisis," said Christopher Springmann, executive producer of On the Path Productions (OPP). "More and more children are being diagnosed with this spectrum disorder, and as a society we just don't have the support services many families need to cope with the therapeutic, education and life challenges their children are facing."

To bring this issue into the spotlight, Springmann interviewed Patricia Wright, Ph.D., MPH, and national director of autism services for Easter Seals, who discussed the "Living with Autism Study" made possible by MassMutual Financial Group and released today by Easter Seals.

"The study quantifies what we've heard anecdotally over the years," said Wright. "The one consistent message Easter Seals hears from the families we serve -- after the initial apprehension and anxiety of learning their child has autism -- is an overwhelming concern about the life-long supports their child with autism may need to be independent."

Wright's comments will appear in two of OPP's regular features: the daily radio show "Life Love & Health," broadcast Wednesday, December 17, and the hour-long weekly feature "Life Love & Health: Special Edition," webcast on Friday, December 19.

"Our clients understand how our programming can extend their message to audiences that might not otherwise be aware of it," said Springmann. "And for critical issues like autism, where the only thing that can really shape public policy is rapidly growing public awareness, our on-air and online outreach to the general public, as well as our connection with the health and medical communities, can only help get the word out."

"Life Love & Health," America's most listened-to daily 90-second health, prevention and wellness program, reaches over 6.4 million listeners on CNN, Fox and ESPN; both satellite networks and multiple Public Radio affiliates; in-store radio in 3200+ retail locations;; plus the Voice of America and American Forces Network.
