One Direction Debuts at No. 1 in Top Events Rankings for March

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT--(Marketwire - Apr 6, 2012) - The British-Irish boy band One Direction have taken the music world by storm in recent weeks and after announcing their first ever North American tour, jumped to the top of TicketNews' Top Events rankings, compiled from March 1-31.

One Direction announced in late March that they would embark on their first tour through the U.S. and Canada, still ranking above every other event for the month. The group rose to fame after competing on UK's X Factor, where they finished third. Despite not winning the competition, the band's debut single, "What Makes You Beautiful," quickly rose to No. 1 on the musical charts in the UK. The tour begins May 24 in Fairfax, VA.

One Direction was not the only boy band in the top ten, as Big Time Rush finished March at No. 10. Their tour begins July 5, 2012 in Columbus, OH.
