ONE DROP and Fondation Desjardins Present GAIA by Guy Laliberte, an Exhibition to Raise Awareness of Water Issues Among the Populations of Montreal, Quebec City and Toronto

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 21, 2011) - ONE DROP and Fondation Desjardins are pleased to announce that they have decided to join forces to present the exhibition GAIA, an artistic project imagined by Guy Laliberté, premiering in the Quartier des spectacles this September to raise Montrealers' awareness of water-related issues on our planet and to encourage them to adopt responsible habits with respect to this vital resource. GAIA will then move to Quebec City and Toronto in 2012 to do the same.

"ONE DROP is proud to be partnering with Fondation Desjardins for this occasion. Our missions intersect in that they give top priority to raising awareness in the community and educating people about the important issues that concern all human beings," said Guy Laliberté, Chair of ONE DROP and Founder of Cirque du Soleil.

The GAIA exhibition will include over 50 large-scale photos taken by Guy Laliberté during his Poetic Social Mission aboard the International Space Station in 2009. These compelling images capture the Earth (Gaia) in all its splendour and water in all its vulnerability. Another product of this mission into space is a 300-page book titled GAIA, containing magnificent photos taken over 350 km above the Earth's surface. All proceeds from its sale go to ONE DROP.

"Through this partnership with ONE DROP, Fondation Desjardins—whose mission has focused on education for the past 40 years—will be able to further raise the awareness of students, teachers, decision-makers and the public at large to the issues surrounding our use of water, thus favouring the adoption of responsible habits. That is why we are proud to be associated with ONE DROP and with this initiative," stated Monique F. Leroux, President and Chief Executive Officer of Desjardins Group.

ONE DROP—an initiative of Guy Laliberté, Founder of Cirque du Soleil—is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) with its headquarters in Montreal, Canada. With its unique arts-based approach, ONE DROP helps to ensure sustainable development for communities by implementing educational projects, providing adapted solutions for access to safe water and granting microfinance loans. Creative projects led by ONE DROP seek to raise the population's awareness of water-related issues and to encourage the adoption of responsible water management practices.
