One of the Largest Orthotics Centres and Canada's First Living Lab Open Today: Ergoresearch Inaugurates the Complexe Ergo

LAVAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 4, 2011) - Orthoconcept, Clinique du Pied Équilibre and Ergoresearch (TSX VENTURE:ERG) will now better serve the greater metropolitan area by grouping their activities in the all-new Complexe ERGO, which opens today at 2101 Boulevard Le Carrefour in Laval.

The Complexe ERGO, realized in partnership with the owner of the building where it is located, represents an investment of $4 M and houses Orthoconcept general orthotics services, the foot orthotics services offered by the Clinique du Pied Equilibre and comprehensive Ergoresearch R&D and fabrication services. "We have already perfected equipment that is unique in North America." explained the president of Ergoresearch, Sylvain Boucher, "Our proprietary Expert-Fit clinical and manufacturing software is paired with a high precision pressure mapping system designed to measure and analyze pressure distribution, resulting in a unique 3D digital image of the foot that is sent to a CNC milling machine for the mass customization and manufacturing of foot orthotics." This technology is available through Clinique du Pied Equilibre who already services some sixty private clinics Québec-wide.

Canada's first Living Lab for osteoarthritis of the knee

"The first Living Lab for osteoarthritis of the knee will operate in the Complexe ERGO by late May," Sylvain Boucher, stated: "This unique approach enables a patient to consult all the medical and paramedical professionals who can help treat osteoarthritis of the knee." Physicians, orthopedists, kinesiologists, physiotherapists, orthotists and nutritionists work together to make sure that patients receive diagnosis, services and products under one roof for a significant improvement in their quality of life. "In Québec, 1.1 million people are over 65 years of age," noted Mr. Boucher, "and the increasing number of people with osteoarthritis of the knee will notice a significant difference in the quality and the speed of the services they receive."

A unique approach

Ergoresearch's unique approach in foot orthotics tables on innovation and research to remain at the cutting edge of the industry. The Corporation advantageously develops its technologies in an intense clinical environment where the benefits to the patients are the focus. To insure the constant evolution of the proposed solutions, an important R&D program sustains the Living Lab initiative. This program calls upon universities, private corporations and institutional partners. A scientific committee formed by medical specialists supervises all clinical protocols.

Ergoresearch enters a new expansion phase

Ergoresearch takes a major turn in its development and aims to multiply annual turnover, currently close to $7 M, to become the Canadian leader in the industry within three years. "We are in the acquisition mode across Canada," said the president. "Our R&D department took off and will soon be introducing technologies and products that will revolutionize the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee, amongst others. This is very exciting for our team and for our partners, and is just the beginning of a process that will quickly position us at the forefront of the North American orthopaedic industry."
