One of the Premier Augusta Hotels Announces Exciting Changes for the Business District

AUGUSTA, GA--(Marketwire - March 18, 2011) - The Augusta Marriott Hotel and Suites has officially changed the name of the facility to the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center. "The name change appropriately reflects the changes that are occurring at this facility today and for years into the future," said Vice President and General Manager, Darryl Leech. "The city of Augusta is currently building the Augusta Convention Center that will connect to our hotel. Combined with the existing facilities, the expanded complex will offer customers 100,000 square feet of event space. The total package will be an attractive new option for meeting and convention planners looking for world class facilities in the region."

The new Augusta Convention Center is scheduled to open in 2012. The innovating facility will include a 38,000 square foot, column free, flat floor exhibit space with generous and flexible public spaces. The Augusta Convention Center will accommodate up to 188 10 X 10 exhibit booths, seat 3,500 for meetings or provide banquet seating for 1,800. The facilities are being constructed with current technological, communication and exhibition standards that many customers will appreciate in addition to the simple design that allows for easy load in and out. The city of Augusta is also currently constructing a 650 space parking deck across Reynolds Street which is scheduled to open in August of 2011.
