Oneida Unveils Sleek Shapes and Finishes With Its Flatware and Dinnerware Designs at the International Home & Housewares Show

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 18, 2008) - Oneida, a global leader in tabletop design, is highlighting the importance of form and finish on its newest flatware and dinnerware introductions at the world's largest housewares marketplace, the International Home & Housewares Show in Chicago, March 16 - 18. This year, Oneida is showcasing an extension of premium level details to everyday tableware through a sleek, eye-catching interpretation of shape and texture.

With a fusion of inspiration from everyday life, Oneida has translated influences from architecture, home design, jewelry and sculpture into the finishes, shapes and surfaces of this year's introductions. The move towards bringing traditionally high end textures and silhouettes into housewares is meant to bestow an air of richness to the casual tabletop.

"Finish and shape are two essential elements of a successful design," said Paul Gebhardt, a 24-year industry veteran and global head of Oneida's design team. "Texture is primarily an accent to bright polishing, while shape is a defining element of any design. Oneida has a storied history of tableware design. We believe it is our dedication to fine details that allows us to elevate the quality and look of everyday flatware and dinnerware."

At this year's show, among many new products, Oneida will be highlighting two flatware introductions which embody the brand's devotion to beautiful texture and functional shape:

-- A study in form, with meaningful weight and feel in the hand, Glissade
defines its modern shape with a soft arching form. Its radiant mirrored
finish highlights the slightly beveled edge and the purity of design. From
the salad fork to the dinner knife, each piece reminds the user that subtle
lines and feel in the hand offer drama and comfort.
-- Sleek, swept lines of bright polished stainless frame the soft
textured luster featured on the interior of Velour. This modern design
expresses clean asymmetry, and makes a statement with each piece. With a
curved swept center panel that is framed with hi-luster stainless, the
pattern creates visual drama on the tabletop.

The essence of form and texture are translated within the Oneida dinnerware introductions as well, with round and square shapes debuting subtle and bold effects.

-- Three dimensional linear fluting dramatizes the rim and sides of the
shape story in Del Rey, and its organically inspired hues of white, brown,
blue and green, fit seamlessly into the casual home of today.
-- With an array of round and square dinnerware pieces, Venus brings
drama to the simplest tabletop with a reactive glaze in a bold red that is
accentuated by a subtle embossed design.

Oneida strives to bring a variety of meaningful designs to the consumer marketplace. With the introduction of sophisticated shapes and textures for everyday use, Oneida offers consumers premium design touches for every tabletop.
