ONESTOP Toronto celebrates Canada Day with "Student Shorts"

Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor, Assignment Editor, Media Editor, Tech/Telecomm Editor, Transportation Editor TORONTO/ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 1, 2005) - ONESTOP Toronto Inc. has finalized its agreement with six local schools to broadcast student work on its network of digital video message screens on Toronto Transit Commission's subway platforms, at no cost to the students or the schools. Although the Student Shorts program officially begins in September with the start of the next school year, ONESTOP will air a select number of Canada theme shorts by two talented Canadian animators at the Toronto Film School July 1-3.

The school program, entitled Student Shorts, allows aspiring student animators and graphic designers to create 15 or 30 second silent films to entertain and inform commuters. Student Shorts content will range from holiday greetings to raising awareness about charitable organizations, to artistic impression, to encouraging social responsibilities such as voting and recycling. The program will be integrated into the six Toronto schools' individual curriculums as an optional project for students.

"Through the recent launch of our Charity Program and now Student Shorts, we are thrilled the community is leveraging the ONESTOP network as a community voice. said Michael Girgis, President of ONESTOP Media Group.

"Student Shorts will not only help give students exposure and experience, it will enrich the fibers of Toronto's arts and cultural community. This city has produced some of the world's finest animators and together we are giving the next generation of talented students a chance to exhibit their work to the TTC audience." said Steven Bowie, Department Head, Computer Animation, Toronto Film School.

Participating schools include: Ryerson's Radio and Television Arts program, Centennial's Digital Animation program, Sheridan's Computer Animation program, Humber's Multimedia program, Ontario College of Art & Design, and Toronto Film School's Computer Animation program.
