Online Master of Engineering Degrees Grow by 79% Releases Study of Online Engineering Degree Programs

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 2, 2010) - Incorporated (TSX VENTURE:EGN), today announced survey results for online Master of Engineering degrees.

"Our editors contacted eleven universities offering online Master of Engineering programs," said John Hayes, President of "Of those that reported enrolment data, the average program growth over the past 5 years has been 79%."

Study participants cited three main reasons why more students are turning to online programs for their engineering degrees:

  1. The majority of students studying online have full-time jobs. The convenience of class scheduling is a priority for them.
  2. Students don't want to interrupt their career advancement to go back to school.
  3. Taking a Master of Engineering degree is a big financial commitment - up to $30,000 for tuition alone. Students who take online degrees are able to save on travel and housing costs.

"All student services for on-campus students are also available to distance students including financial aid, technology support, library services, and career services. The student transcripts and diplomas are exactly the same as campus students' with no indication that they took their courses online," says Ellen Stauffer, Engineering Program Coordinator at Kansas State University.
