Dear Brother Fraser and Brother Baker:

Re: May 3 Plant Occupation Hamilton Specialty Bar

Congratulations on your successful plant occupation at Hamilton Specialty Bar (HSB) by members of the United Steelworkers, Local 4752.

We have a government and a Premier here in Ontario who refuse to acknowledge the very real crisis in manufacturing that has laid off thousands and thousands of workers. Premier Dalton McGuinty has refused to even talk to the workers or listen to them.

The Premier was in Hamilton yesterday mere blocks from the HSB plant but even after he was given a hand-delivered invitation to come and talk to the workers at the plant - he refused. He didn't travel the few blocks on his way out of town to meet with the workers who are all losing their livelihoods on May 29 when this plant, like so many others, shuts its doors and leaves town.

I'm proud that the Steelworkers stood up with these workers. By taking a strong stand in Hamilton yesterday, you gave support and solidarity for all workers facing plant shutdowns and layoffs.

In solidarity,
