Ontario Grits (42%) Regain 8-Point Lead over Tories (34%)

Following Second Budget, Liberals Post 6-Point Gain over April Attention: Assignment Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 8, 2005) - A few weeks after narrowing the "$23 Billion Gap" and announcing their
second Provincial Budget, the Ontario Liberals (42%) have re-gained their
lead over the Progressive Conservatives (34%). Rising 6 points in voter
support since April, the Grits now post a 8-point lead over the Tories (-3)
- with the NDP in distant third (-2).

Across Ontario's regions, the governing Liberals record their strongest
support in the GTA 905 Belt surrounding the Megacity (50%), Toronto (47%),
and the North (47%) - with weakest support in the East (29%) and Southwest
(35%).

Comparatively, the PCs are strongest in the East (47%) and Southwest (46%),
and weakest in the North (17%) and Toronto (21%). The NDP post their best
results in the North (27%) and Toronto (24%) - with the 905 Belt (10%)
