Ontario Health Coalition-Ready to Respond to the Provincial Budget: Health Coalitions in Communities Facing Major Hospital Cuts Across Ontario

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 25, 2009) - Local chapters and affiliates of the Ontario Health Coalition will be available to respond to the Ontario Budget on Thursday March 26, 2009. Ontario's government funds our hospitals $1.6 billion less than other provinces. In each of these communities, local hospitals are facing major cuts or hospital closures as a result of McGuinty government underfunding of hospital global budgets. At the same time as many of these communities are facing plant closures and mass lay offs, potential economic development will be compromised and local economies will be further damaged by dramatic hospital cuts unless the provincial budget addresses the hospital underfunding issue.
