Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Announces Date of Press Conference to Present Findings of the York Region External Review

NEWMARKET, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 20, 2011) - Rob Godfrey, Chair of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, will present the findings of the report and how the organization intends to implement the recommendations contained within the review.

Toronto- The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Ontario SPCA) will hold a press conference on Friday June 3, 2011 to present the findings of the external review surrounding the York Region ringworm outbreak.

The independent external review, conducted by Dr. Alan Meek and former Ontario Superior Court Chief Justice Patrick LeSage, examines the protocols and procedures in place at the time of the outbreak and how the outbreak was managed by Ontario SPCA staff.

The report is extensive and requires a thorough analysis of the recommendations contained within. "We accept each and every recommendation of the report and we wanted to take a little bit of time to get it right and start implementing the report's recommendations right away" said Ontario SPCA Chair Rob Godfrey. "We believe this review will lead to significant improvements in animal shelter management, not just within the Ontario SPCA, but throughout North America, so that we can better fulfill our public trust."

The location and time of the press conference will be made available through a media advisory scheduled to be released on June 2, 2011.
