Ontario teen swims Lake Ontario

Samantha Whiteside will swim 52 km across Lake Ontario and is asking you to support her challenge by helping her to raise $40,000 for The Arthritis Society.

Attention: Assignment Editor, City Editor, Health/Medical Editor, News Editor, Photo Editor TORONTO, ON, MEDIA ALERT--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 8, 2006) - Samantha, 16-year-old teenager from New Hamburg, ON will swim 52 km across Lake Ontario this coming August 8th and 9th.

Samantha was living in Owen Sound when she was first diagnosed with juvenile arthritis at the age of two. She's virtually been in training for this crossing ever since. Early on Sam and her mom would participate in water therapy activities with her physiotherapist this helped her focus on her joint flexibility, improved her balance and developed her incredible passion for swimming.
