The Ontario Toyota Dealers Reward Individuals From Ajax and Burlington With Brand New Toyota Corollas

AJAX, ON and BURLINGTON, ON--(Marketwired - December 23, 2015) - The Ontario Toyota Dealers, in partnership with Breakfast Television, are giving back to Ontarians this holiday season. Through a contest that began in November called the Toyota Wish Giver, the Ontario Toyota Dealers asked people across Ontario to become "Wish Givers" -- by nominating a member of their community who does good in their community, goes above and beyond for others and asks for nothing in return. The Top 10 stories with the most deserving individuals would see the nominee awarded with an amazing prize -- a new 2016 Toyota Corolla.

After over 1000 submissions, a panel of judges determined the top 30 most giving and selfless individuals, whose stories were then shared with the public for voting to help determine the final 10 winners. After over 26,000 votes were cast by Ontarians, the Top 10 were selected. The best part -- the winners would each be surprised with their 2016 Toyota Corolla live on Breakfast Television from December 14-24.

Tomorrow morning marks Day 9 and the final two giveaways of the Toyota Wish Giver. Jake Stevens, from Ajax, ON, was nominated by his mother Brenda Stevens for giving endlessly to people with both physical and cognitive disabilities. At 16 years old, he assisted with lunchroom supervision in a special education class. This, along with other initiatives and efforts resulted in him becoming the recipient of the Ajax Civic Youth award. Throughout his undergrad at Brock University, he dedicated 12 hours a week to planning and executing a program which assisted over 500 special needs students in developing the social and physical needs of young children with disabilities. Jake also coordinated an autism movement program for the Niagara region and is a coach for the St. Catherines Heat special needs hockey program.

Crystal McNerney, from Burlington, ON, was nominated by her husband Harry McNerney. Crystal has worked tirelessly to help those in her community. She has coordinated a food outreach where people can receive food with no questions asked as well as a neighbourhood group that offers free events including a free dinner that now feeds over 200 people bi-weekly. Crystal has found resources that connect children to free and low-cost sports activities and summer camp programs. During a flood last year in her city, she worked every day to help victims recover by raising awareness and relief funds while helping get homes restored. Crystal is also the volunteer President of a non-profit Co-Operative Housing Corporation which helps maintain affordable housing in the community.

Jake's and Crystal's efforts will be recognized tomorrow in a big way. They will be presented live on air with their new cars. The live footage will be available here:
