Ontario's Cheer Sport Sharks Capture Gold at World Cheerleading Championship

Teamwork and flawless execution elevate Great Whites over Montreal and Louisville squads

The all-girl Great Whites Division 5 team from Cheer Sport Sharks team captured the World Cheerleading Championship gold medal, edging out the Flyers from Montreal and the Gym Tyme All-Stars from Louisville, KY. The Great Whites were riding a wave of positive energy in the Orlando, Florida competition after besting long-time rivals from California to hold on to first place and ultimately reign supreme over forty-four other teams from around the world.

Cheer Sports Sharks co-owner and coach, Ali Moffat said, "The team remained composed and calm throughout the competition. They rebounded well from last year's disappointing third place finish, and leveraged their desire for redemption to fuel their drive to victory this year" The Great Whites were the highest placing all-girl team in the prestigious division five competition. It's their fifth medal since 2007, having won two silvers and two bronze medals in their seven years competing on the world cheerleading stage.

Ali and her co-owner business partner Alana Potter said they couldn't be prouder of their team for their poise, performance and professionalism representing Cambridge, Ontario and Canada so well amongst so many top teams from around the world.

About Cheer Sport Sharks

Founded in 2002 by Co-owners Ali Moffatt and Alana Potter, the Cheer Sport Sharks started with two competitive teams in a rented training facility in Cambridge. Since then the organization has acquired its own training facilities in Cambridge "The Shark Tank", Ancaster "The Ocean" and Stittsville near Ottawa "The Sea". In addition to All-Star Competitive Cheerleading, Cheer Sport Sharks offers recreational cheerleading coaching. There are a total of thirty teams and six hundred female and male athletes who make up the Cheer Sport Sharks organization.
