Ontario's NDP-Reality Check: There's Reason to Doubt the McGuinty Liberals on Pesticides

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 24, 2007) - Today, Dalton McGuinty begged Ontarians to believe that after four years of doing nothing about them, his party would act on pesticides.

But there's more reason to doubt the McGuinty Liberals, given that their federal cousins - including 18 Liberal MPs from Ontario - voted to defeat an NDP motion to ban the commercial use of pesticides only 17 months ago.

The 18 Ontario Liberal MPs who voted to keep the commercial pesticides legal were: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Ken Boshcoff, Brenda Chamberlain, Roy Cullen, Joe Fontana, Bill Graham, Derek Lee, Diane Marleau, John McCallum, Dan McTeague, Anthony Rota, Judy Sgro, Brent St. Denis, Paul Steckle, Lui Temelkovski, Roger Valley, Joe Volpe and Tom Wappel (Source: House of Commons Journals, May 16, 2006).
