OntheBoards.tv Marks First Anniversary With $1 Video Rental Streams, Adds French Choreographer Christian Rizzo to Performance Film Line-Up

Innovative OntheBoards.tv Offers Its Complete Collection of High-Definition, Full Length Performance Art Films From World's Leading Artists for Just $1 Each on Jan. 21-28

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - January 19, 2011) - OntheBoards.tv, an organization that produces and distributes high-definition contemporary performance films, today announced all films on its website at www.ontheboards.tv will be available to rent via streaming video for just $1 each to commemorate the organization's one-year anniversary week, Jan. 21-28. In addition, OntheBoards.tv also announced it has added a new film to its line-up -- b.c, janvier 1545, fontainebleau. by renowned French choreographer Christian Rizzo. Including Rizzo's film, patrons will now have 10 provocative pieces to choose from and enjoy during the anniversary weekend.

Normally priced at $5 each to rent and stream, or $15 to download and purchase, OntheBoards.tv features a curated collection of only the best-of-the-best contemporary stage performances, all captured in high-definition film from multiple angles and edited by a professional filmmaker. A first-of-its-kind project, OntheBoard.tv is pioneering a new way to capture, view and archive contemporary performance art that enables everyone access to some of the world's most innovative artists regardless of location or schedule.

"Not only are we creating better access that can lead to wider appreciation for contemporary art, we're also creating new revenue stream potentials for artists and venues that were not there before," noted Lane Czaplinski, artistic director for OntheBoards.tv. OntheBoard.tv's newest film, by Rizzo and his company l'association fragile, is a 65-minute performance piece in which Rizzo harnesses his notable non-danse choreography style and fashion design eye to delve into the idea of a lone woman and the calligraphic potential of dance. The set, a modernist cabinet of curiosities, comes complete with Rizzo's sculptures hanging from the ceiling and tea lights strewn throughout the stage. The Seattle premiere of b.c, janvier 1545, fontainebleau. received wide critical and audience acclaim, with comments like "mesmerizing, totally absorbing performance."

Other performances found at www.ontheboards.tv include pieces by such renowned artists as playwright Young Jean Lee (THE SHIPMENT), Belgian performance titan Jan Fabre (Orgy of Tolerance) and comedic musician Reggie Watts (Transition), as well as the poignant final project from the late Australian choreographer Tanja Liedtke (construct).
