Ooyala Bolsters Video Monetization Offering in Japan in Partnership With Leading Ad Networks

TOKYO--(Marketwired - Sep 17, 2013) - Ooyala, the leading innovator in premium video publishing, analytics and monetization, today announced it is working with some of Japan's leading online advertising networks to enable video publishers to better monetize web-delivered video. The company has partnered with several ad companies that support the Video Ad Serving Template (VAST) standard including CMerTV, Omnibus, and Platform One Inc., to enable VAST ad insertion for videos viewed on PCs, mobile phones and tablets.

During Ad:Tech Tokyo 2013 on September 18 and 19 (at Innovation Zone #33), Ooyala will be demonstrating how ad networks easily integrate with its Backlot cloud video management system to deliver personalized video content and targeted VAST ads, combined with Ooyala's industry-leading real-time analytics that measure audience engagement across all devices.

Due to a sharp rise in mobile and tablet viewing, combined with advances in online and mobile ad technologies, publishers can now begin to more effectively derive revenue from video across multiple screens. Ooyala's Q2 2013 Global Video Index, released last week, revealed that mobile and tablet viewing, driven largely by iOS, now account for 13% percent of all online viewing.

On mobile phones, people spent more than half their viewing time during Q2 with videos longer than ten minutes; and 20% of their viewing time with videos more than an hour long. This trend represents a major opportunity that publishers can take advantage of by working with Ooyala and its preferred ad partners.

"Ooyala now offers publishers a broader selection of methods for driving the maximum amount of revenue from every video asset," said Mr. Yorinobu Isozaki, country manager for Ooyala Japan. "The VAST standard is one of the most effective monetization options in our complex video and advertising landscape. By partnering with leading companies to integrate, we're helping accelerate the evolution of digital video publishing and allowing our customers to reap the benefits of an audience that is increasingly online, and increasingly mobile."
