OPDR Selects GT Nexus to Enrich Customer Service and Improve Visibility

Cloud-Based Network Enables Shortsea Carrier to Automate Processes in a Collaborative Environment for Customers to Capture Deeper Shipment Visibility

OAKLAND, CA--(Marketwired - January 14, 2015) - GT Nexus announced today that Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfschiffs-Rhederei (OPDR) has signed on to the GT Nexus platform to enable paperless electronic transactions and automate workflows, delivering improved visibility and efficiency for its customers and their supply chains.

OPDR is a leading cargo transport solutions provider specializing in routes between North Europe, the Iberian Peninsula, the Canary Islands, Madeira and Northern and Western Africa, for more than 130 years. OPDR operates its own fleet of 10,000 containers and delivers services in more than 25 countries.

"We have a longstanding history of delivering the highest level of reliability and quality to our customers in Europe and Africa," said Hendrik Eichentopf, Director Processes & Systems at OPDR. "GT Nexus expands upon our customer-centric strategy by providing an online network for customers and their supply chains to connect directly and share data. The benefits of visibility and automation in a transparent supply network reach down to our customers and to their end-customers."

OPDR will deploy GT Nexus to provide transactional e-commerce services. Bookings, shipping instructions and shipment status events will be viewable to customers through the GT Nexus platform.

"Supply chain visibility remains quite limited at most companies today," said Michelle Cummings, Vice President of Ocean Services and Partners for GT Nexus. "Many businesses rely on external data pieced together to triangulate the status of orders. The world's leading ocean carriers are turning to GT Nexus to give their customers a tighter handle on business through direct visibility into order statuses and the movement of goods."

OPDR is the latest in a wave of carriers to join the GT Nexus platform in the last year, including COSCO, Wan Hai, Arkas Line, Pacific International Lines (PIL) and Grimaldi Group.
