Open AXIS Group Ushers in Distribution 2.0

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 9, 2010) - Open AXIS Group today announced the publication of a white paper advocating for improved transparency and traveler-authenticated shopping capabilities across all distribution channels. The paper, titled Distribution 2.0: Innovating the Airline Distribution Channel, is available for immediate download at

Distribution 2.0 is a new Indirect Channel model that expands the level of airline products and services available to agencies, corporations, Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and other travel intermediaries, while simultaneously enabling a distinctive competitive distribution advantage for suppliers. Based on technology and workflows already in production today, Distribution 2.0 seeks to eliminate the disparity – or the Distribution Gap – that presently exists between the airline Direct Channel and the Indirect Channel.

"Until the Distribution Gap is eliminated, there will be a continual erosion of customer and agency/intermediary satisfaction with the Indirect Channel," said Jim Young, executive director of Open AXIS Group. "Distribution 2.0 is intended by our members to be a call to action for the industry to come together and give the Indirect Channel a long overdue upgrade."
