Open Government Vision Continues to Flourish Through Data.gov

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - October 7, 2010) -  Synteractive, a leader in strategy consulting and business solutions, has been tapped to partner in building a new cloud-based dataset hosting solution for Data.gov using Microsoft's technology Windows Azure, SQL Azure, SharePoint 2010, and Bing.

This partnership is led by Smartronix and is comprised of Smartronix, Synteractive, KPMG and TMP Government. Team Smartronix will work with the General Services Administration (GSA) in building a virtual dataset hosting platform designed to improve constituents' ability to access and consume important Federal data. This same team partnered with Microsoft in orchestrating Recovery.gov 2.0.

"To realize the administration's vision of Open Government, citizens need access to data that is easy to understand, and easy to work with," said Evan Burfield, Chairman and CEO of Synteractive, the 2010 Microsoft Federal Partner of the Year. "This cloud-based hosting model will facilitate citizen engagement while reducing data management complexities for Federal agencies."

The solution is an innovative, interoperable architecture built around services such as Microsoft Codename Dallas which are ideal for open government data. Dallas is an information marketplace that has the ability to bring data, imagery, and real-time web services from government sources together into a single location.
