OPEN Sports Deploys Xsigo's Virtual I/O

Online Sports Entertainment Firm Implements I/O Virtualization for Scalability and Remote Management

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - November 19, 2008) - Xsigo Systems, the technology leader in I/O virtualization, announced today that OPEN Sports (www.opensports.com), a rapidly growing online sports entertainment destination, has deployed the Xsigo I/O Director as the foundation of its data center infrastructure. OPEN Sports turned to Xsigo to support their vision of the next-generation sports experience that requires 100% site uptime, a scalable infrastructure, and the ability to add innovative applications in real-time.

"Xsigo is OPEN Sports' star player when it comes to our data center connectivity needs," said Ken Mark, Chief Information Officer at OPEN Sports. "OPEN Sports relies on Xsigo for 100% uptime and a rapidly scalable infrastructure to stay ahead of our growing demand. And, at half the total operating cost of conventional connectivity, Xsigo's virtual I/O technology absolutely improves our bottom line."

Launched in August of this year, OPEN Sports offers rich content, diverse programming and next-generation fantasy sports. The company is gearing up for rapid growth with an expanding audience, new content featuring sports legends John Elway and Dennis Rodman, and a sweepstakes called "THE DRIVE" which challenges participants to gain yardage through eight activities on OPENSports.com. Over 27 million Americans participate in fantasy sports, according to the Fantasy Sports Trade Association.

OPEN Sports, based in Deerfield Beach, FL, is a new online sports entertainment destination and brainchild of Mike Levy, founder and former CEO of CBS Sportsline.com. OPEN Sports deployed Xsigo I/O virtualization for three key reasons: a seamlessly scalable infrastructure to support their rapidly growing business; data center agility to ensure performance and uptime; and remote management for the company's Atlanta, GA data center.

Because Xsigo's technology replaces physical interfaces with virtual resources, OPEN Sports' server connectivity can be managed remotely and in real-time. Alternative solutions would have required frequent travel to and from their collocation center 630 miles away and labor intensive work such as physically pulling cables, swapping cards, and remapping resources. Deployed in conjunction with the VMware ESX hypervisor, Xsigo virtual I/O provides OPEN Sports with a fully virtualized server environment where all resources can be managed via software.

Ken Mark continued, "Our users demand a responsive online experience. Xsigo provides the scalable backbone that lets us seamlessly deliver information and rich content without delays. And with Xsigo's remote management capability, we have achieved a fully lights out data center where simple connectivity changes that typically took days to complete are done in minutes."

"We are thrilled that OPEN Sports selected Xsigo virtual I/O for their growing infrastructure," said Lloyd Carney, CEO of Xsigo Systems. "Customers need solutions that provide rock-solid stability yet can adapt quickly to changing requirements. We look forward to working with OPEN Sports to help them scale their IT infrastructure seamlessly and cost effectively."
